The Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate has confirmed that the popular Stew & Oyster brand has signed a new lease of the former Malton Town Hall, Malton, North Yorkshire.
Malton is the sixth and latest site for the ambitious Stew & Oyster team, who plan to open in April 2019. They will be serving regional craft beers and ales, alongside a simple dining menu, all from the heart of Malton’s Market Place, the historic Town Hall.
The iconic landmark Grade II-listed building in the heart of Malton’s vibrant Market Place, has benefitted from an investment of £380k in its restoration by the Fitzwilliam Estate. The property has been sensitively renovated with many of its original features restored by skilled local craftsmen, retaining the character and heritage of the building.
Stew & Oyster have built its portfolio of well-established eateries, searching out impressive and historical property and tastefully renovating them. The brand’s style is modern, contemporary aesthetic, using casual furnishings married up with key focal points of the buildings, such as exposed stone work.
Since 2009, the Yorkshire-based firm has seen great success beginning with their first site Calls Landing in Leeds, and now boasting a total of five (soon to be six) establishments across the county.
Helen Barry, Estate Manager for the Fitzwilliam Estate, commented, “We are delighted that we have been able to attract Stew & Oyster to come to Malton and we’re very impressed with their approach to jointly undertaking this significant renovation of our flagship building in the Market Place.
‘We are very much looking forward to seeing this lovely building come alive, for residents and visitors during the day and into the evening, and welcoming Stew & Oyster to the town!”
