Greggs is planning open up a new outlet in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, with an application sent to Aberdeenshire Council.

The company aims take over the old Scottish Hydro Electric store on Market Place in the north east town.

The Inverurie plans come days after proposals were unveiled to open another Greggs outlet in Aberdeen, where the firm already has five sites.

Proposals for an extension to the Shell Garage on King Street would see a Greggs and Subway accommodated.

The UK’s largest bakery chain currently operates just under 1,700 branches nationwide, and employs almost 20,000 people.
