The historic Dolbadarn Hotel located in the heart of Snowdonia in Llanberis, North Wales, has come to market through Christie & Co, with a price tag of £695k for the freehold
Built in 1802, the property was originally a coaching hotel and is considered one of the earliest buildings in the village. It is also thought to have once accommodated painter J.M.W. Turner while he was working on his famous oil painting of the nearby Dolbadarn Castle.
Set within its own grounds, Dolbadarn Hotel has 22 bedrooms, a lounge and separate pub, and it has been extensively developed over the years to also include a restaurant and a function room.
The current owner has decided to retire after running the hotel for 40 years.
Tom O’Malley, Business Agent in Christie & Co’s Manchester office, commented, “The owner has decided that after 40 years, it is finally time to retire. With the right level of investment and upgrading, there is huge potential to be unearthed in a hotel of this size and position in Llanberis.
“Situated at the foot of Mount Snowdon, Llanberis sits amidst a backdrop of spectacular scenery in the form of mountains and lakes making it a popular area for outdoor activities and country walks. This is a great opportunity which would suit an experienced or first-time business owner.”
