After a successful summer launch, Night Tales Bohemia Place is expanding its food offering by officially launching Fat Baby, a brand new 42-cover casual Japanese Izakaya, with Head Chef Greg Round (ex-Umu in Mayfair) at the helm.
Having softly launched back in July with a limited street food-style menu focusing on yakitori, Night Tales is now officially launching Fat Baby, its in-house Japanese Izakaya Grill. The 42-cover restaurant will be open for reservations and walk ins Thursday to Sunday from 11 October and will focus on the five main cooking techniques found in Japanese cuisine; raw, steam, simmer, grill and fry.
The menu, which will feature high quality seasonal ingredients from across a small network of British suppliers – including Forest Coalpit Farm in Abergavenny and Sladesdown Farm in Yorkshire for meat and Pesky Fish and Wild Harbour for fish – has been created by Greg Round.
The chef brings with him a wealth of knowledge from two Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant Umu, where he trained under the direction of the senior chefs preparing traditional Kyoto style Kaiseki-ryori tasting menus. His love and appreciation for Japanese cuisine lead him to travel across Japan & Asia in search of new experiences, flavours and techniques – all of which he plans to showcase in his new menu at Fat Baby.

Examples include Hot Cherry Blossom Punch; Red Wine, Laphroaig 10, Lemon & Cherry, Lost in Translation; Rum, Pineapple, Lemongrass & Tonic and Cold Brew Martini; Vodka, Cold Brew, Agave & Cacao – to be enjoyed in both their heated garden terrace and indoor Mezcal Bar & club.
Night Tales is a music destination and this summer saw some of the country’s most exciting DJs play – Gorgon City, Octavian, Ben Pearce, Foals and Auntie Flo to name a few. This winter will feature a hand-picked program of both DJs providing extended sets; and acoustic live shows transitioning from day to night across the new covered terrace and club.
