The wife of award-winning hotelier and former Chief Executive of Malmaison and Hotel du Vin, Robert Cook, is set to launch a new boutique hotel in Northumberland.

Debbie Cook plans to open The Cookie Jar at the Grade II listed former Convent of Mercy which overlooks Alnwick Castle.

The building has been converted into a hotel with 11 luxurious rooms and suites, designed by interior designer Matt Hulme, who has previously designed Hotel du Vins in Newcastle, Cambridge and Edinburgh.

The hotel will also feature The Bailiffgate Bistro, which will include a 30 seater, two-tier terrace with fire-pit, garden and lawn.

The hotel is set to open this month; however, the Bistro will open in Spring 2018.
