Atul Kochhar to open first UK restaurant in Birmingham

Twice Michelin starred chef, Atul Kochhar is to open a restaurant at The Mailbox, Birmingham’s premier lifestyle and shopping destination.

Shelley Sandzer acted on behalf of a joint venture between Brockton Capital and Milligan for the debut UK site, NRI by Atul Kochhar.

The new 5,125 sq ft site will be the brand’s first restaurant in the UK, following the success of the original NRI restaurant in Mumbai. Located on Level 1 of the Mailbox, the restaurant designed by Zopsigog will have space for up to 180 covers. NRI is due to open in September of this year.

Twice Michelin starred chef, Atul Kochhar, is famed for changing the way people perceive and experience Indian cuisine. Kochhar is a regular guest on BBC’s Great British Menu, as well as appearing on popular television shows including MasterChef and Saturday Kitchen.

The Mailbox is the UK’s largest mixed use property outside of London and is home to exclusive stores, waterside restaurants, cafes and bars, a luxury independent cinema, hotels, and 200,000 sq ft of office space home to the BBC, Advanced and Associated Architects.
