Deliveroo data reveals Londoners meal habits

Chef's Office, Create, Inspire, Connect

Deliveroo has today announced that following its success in using data insights and the cutting edge ‘Frank’ algorithm to improve delivery for consumers, it will use this knowledge and experience to provide restaurants personalised data insights to help their businesses.

This will be powered through ‘Restaurant Home’, deliveroo’s powerful new portal that gives restaurants insight and analysis.

It comes as the company reveals for the first time a borough by borough break down of the most popular cuisines in London. While Burgers remain the overall favourite in London, the borough by borough breakdown reveal a number of insights:

• The City loves a healthy meal with Salad and Poke being the most popular choices in the financial heart of the capital
• Residents in Islington top choice is a Kebab delivered straight to their door
• Enfield households loves to go Greek
• Residents in Kensington and Chelsea choose to order healthy food the most, but south Londoners in Croydon can’t get enough American food and BBQ ribs
• French cuisine is the top order in Kingston-upon-Thames
• Kensington and Chelsea and City of London are the biggest night owls ordering the most late-night takeaways across London
• Lambeth and Hackney residents are the biggest party people ordering the most alcohol with their meals
• Westminster and Camden deliveroo customers are the most likely to have a sweet tooth and order desert

Through ‘Restaurant Home’, restaurants that partner with Deliveroo will be given:
• Insights and analysis into order volumes and how to increase growth
• Data on preparation and collection times helping restaurants speed up delivery
• Data on refunds, causes and how to reduce wastage
• Data on menu click throughs and how to improve restaurant ratings
• Comparisons to top performers and local area averages

These are just some of the features of Restaurant Home which Deliveroo hopes will become the one-stop shop for restaurants to handle their marketing, insights and support offered by the food delivery company.

Dan Warne, Deliveroo UK and Ireland Managing Director, said, ‘Deliveroo is proud that our growth has helped boost restaurant sales and allowed our partners to reach more customers with amazing meals. We have already used data and tech to make delivery more efficient and reliable, but we want to make sure we are providing restaurants with the insights that help them grown even more. That’s why we are rolling out tools and analysis for restaurants to help them to seize the opportunities that delivery provides to them.’

Commenting on Londoner’s orders habits he added, ‘London’s diversity is just one of the things that makes this an amazing city to live, work and eat in. We know that Londoners still love their burgers most, but different boroughs have their own favorites. Whether it’s hHackney’s love of chinese cuisine on demand or the City’s embracing of healthy dishes, we’re proud to be supporting the brilliant range of restaurants that call the capital home.’
