The Ivy House, a grade II-listed pub in Tonbridge, Kent, has been sold by Ei Group to a well-known local publican. The purchaser, Jamie Brady currently owns the very popular Carpenters Arms in Three Elm Lane.

The transaction was brokered by Simon Bland of leisure property specialist Fleurets, who said, “I think it is tremendous news for Tonbridge that Jamie has acquired the Ivy House. I know he has exciting plans to refurbish and reopen as soon as possible and I am really pleased that this lovely old pub will soon be welcoming customers old and new. I wish Jamie every success!”

Located in Tonbridge’s town centre, adjacent to Tonbridge School and the castle, The Ivy House is believed to be one of the oldest buildings in Tonbridge and historically served as a tollhouse, due to its prominent location.

The pub has retained its period character and charm, and also possesses an attractive beer garden.

Richard Phillips, Estate Manager at Ei Group, said, “We’re pleased to have sold this prominent site to such a well-known and experienced publican. We have no doubt that he will continue to ensure the Ivy House remains at the very heart of the community and the pub will thrive for the benefit of its customers.”
