The Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group has confirmed it is exploring plans to restructure its Jamie’s Italian restaurant estate in the UK, to ensure the business is in good shape for the future.

The latest news is that 12 outlets of the 40-strong portfolio may be on the line, including those in Glasgow, Bristol, Cardiff and St Albans.

As part of this review, the company said that it is in conversation with its stakeholders, but no final decisions or proposals have been made at this stage.

The spokesperson continued, “The review does not affect Jamie’s Italian international franchises managed through Jamie’s Italian International. The Jamie Oliver Media Group and the Jamie Oliver Licensing Group, which are both managed and run separately, are also unaffected.”

In November last year, Jamie’s Italian was bailed out by the Jamie Oliver Group, after suffering cashflow problems. Earlier in the year, seven restaurants were closed after a £9.9m loss.
