New Joe Allen launches weekend piano brunch

This month, Joe Allen, the West End canteen which has been at the heart of Theatre land for 40 years, will launch its piano brunch at the new Burleigh Street restaurant, accompanied by a soundtrack of live show tunes to kick start the weekend.

Arguably the greatest export from the US, Joe Allen’s brunch will be an all-American affair, perfect for pre-matinee.

Starting from 9am on Saturday and Sunday, dishes will include: fluffy Ricotta pancakes and maple syrup with poached strawberries and mascarpone; classic American Waffles topped with blackberry compote, whipped cream and maple syrup; and for something savoury, the Breakfast bun with scrambled eggs, smoked slab bacon, smoked sausage and melted cheese, all served in a toasted brioche bun is sure to hit the spot.

Alongside freshly brewed Paradiso coffee, brunch cocktails will be shaken up at the bar, from the celebratory Champagne Classic and Buck’s Fizz, to the Triple Rum Punch and a reviving Bloody Mary garnished with a stick of celery and a wedge of squeezed lime.

As with all great West End institutions, the show must always go on at Joe Allen, and breakfast is no exception. Served right through the week, Joe’s weekday breakfast sees dishes such as Ricotta stuffed field mushrooms on sourdough toast with toasted pine nuts & herb butter, and a hearty Grilled steak & eggs with hash brown & tomatoes.

Co-owner Lawrence Hartley said, ‘Launching brunch at the new restaurant is something we are all really excited about – it’s a staple part of any good weekend, and accompanied by a couple of show tunes on the piano, we’ve given it the true Joe Allen touch!’
