Popular pub and dining venue The Wheatsheaf, Farnham in Surrey, has been bought by independent brewer and pub operator, Shepherd Neame.

The Wheatsheaf, a beautiful, contemporary pub in West Street in the heart of historic Farnham is a welcome new addition to Shepherd Neame’s 20-strong portfolio of Surrey pubs and hotels, including the Star Inn in Guildford and the Cricketers, Horsell Birch.

Nigel Bunting, Shepherd Neame’s director of pub operations, said, ‘We’re delighted to have acquired the Wheatsheaf, it’s a really great pub in a really great place.

‘Not only that but our ethos of providing great, fresh locally sourced food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere fits perfectly with that of the previous owners and we look forward to building on the pub’s excellent reputation.’

Shepherd Neame, which is Britain’s oldest brewer, remains a family business and has committed to retaining the Wheatsheaf’s staff and welcoming them into the Shepherd Neame fold.
