Hilton Hotels has signed a management agreement with Versant Hotels Ltd to open new Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton hotels at Manchester Airport. The hotels are expected to welcome guests from 2020, forming part of a £100m development, which will further enhance the accommodation on offer at the airport.

The development continues Hilton’s strategy of adding new properties with direct links to airport terminals across the region. Hampton by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn Manchester Airport will provide guests with direct access to the airport terminal and transport interchange via a covered walkway.

The hotels will be managed by Hilton, on behalf of investor Versant Developments. Airport City Manchester is responsible for the master plan.

The 375 guestroom Hilton Garden Inn Manchester Airport will be nine storeys high and split across two wings. The hotel will include a sky bar and meeting rooms at rooftop level and a restaurant, garden lounge and fitness centre.

Hampton by Hilton Manchester Airport will include 254 guestrooms in a single standalone tower. Guests will have access to fitness and business centres, meeting rooms and complimentary breakfast during their stay.

This stage of the Airport City Manchester development follows the recent completion of the £15m Enterprise Way link road. A significant enhancement to the area’s infrastructure, the Enterprise Way will connect development sites to the rest of the landmark £1 billion site and wider transport network.

An additional £5m investment into the infrastructure surrounding the hotels will open the first phase of public realm at Airport City Manchester.

The hotels will be developed by Airport City in conjunction with the investor Versant Hotels, which has over 20 years’ experience in the commercial and residential property development sector.

Adam White, Director of Commercial and Business Development, of MAG Property and Airport City JV Partner, said, “Airport City Manchester continues to attract significant interest and the approved plans for a new £180 million hotel district will deliver in the region of 1,200 new beds by 2021, with the creation of around 500 jobs during that time.

‘Demand for additional hotel beds is underpinned by the increase in passengers, airlines and new routes at Manchester Airport, so we are very pleased to welcome two Hilton hotel brands to Airport City, marking another major step-on in progress for this exciting new commercial business hub.’
